Google's Project Starline brings holographic meetings to life.
Google has made new prototypes of its Project Starline holographic video conferencing experiment that are smaller and easier to deploy. The company hopes to get real-world feedback from early access partners including T-Mobile, WeWork, and Salesforce to "see how Project Starline can help distributed workforces stay connected." The experience was impressive, with realistic projections and nonverbal cues, but there were minor issues such as glitches and audio problems. While it's still a long way off from being available in homes, Google's work on Project Starline is worth keeping an eye on.
