Unveiling the Depths of 'All the Light We Cannot See': A Review
The Netflix adaptation of Anthony Doerr's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "All the Light We Cannot See" falls short in nearly every aspect, except for the standout performance of Aria Mia Loberti as Marie-Laure LeBlanc. Screenwriter Steven Knight and director Shawn Levy fail to capture the novel's lyricism, resulting in clichéd dialogue and lackluster performances from talented actors like Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Laurie. The portrayal of the sadistic Nazi officer and the Hollywood-style action scenes clash with the preachy tone of the rest of the series. Despite its high production value, the adaptation feels like a disappointing and misbegotten creation that does not do justice to the spirit of the original story.
