"The Day Before: From Controversies to Closure, Unraveling the MMO Disaster"

A former employee of Fntastic, the developer of The Day Before, revealed that the game was never intended to be an MMO, despite its marketing claims. The employee stated that the game was meant to be a third-person shooter with co-op mechanics, inspired by Rust, DayZ, and Escape from Tarkov. They also highlighted a lack of communication between the team and the founders, who made all gameplay and design decisions. Disagreements with the founders often resulted in termination, leading to wasted time and work. The source confirmed that around 200k copies of The Day Before were sold, with 90k refunds so far. Financial records show that the studio made S$3.4m in revenue last year, but it is unclear where the founders' investments went. The office space was primarily used as a virtual office. Publisher Mytona has apologized for the game and will offer refunds.
