Apple is reportedly developing solid-state haptic buttons with feedback for the 20th anniversary iPhone in 2027, aiming for a seamless, bezel-less, possibly curved display design that could eliminate traditional mechanical buttons, enhancing aesthetics and functionality.

British aircraft carriers, such as the Queen Elizabeth-class, have two separate islands to accommodate redundant engine compartments and maximize flight deck space. Two Queen Elizabeth-class carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, currently employ this design.
