False active shooter alarm prompts lockdown at Maine West High School
Maine West High School in Des Plaines was evacuated after an "active shooter" alarm went off accidentally, according to Maine Township High School District 207. Police did not identify a threat, and all students and staff are safe. The district believes either someone accidentally pushed the button or there was a short in the system that caused the alarm to go off. The school was placed on lockdown "to keep students and staff safe" and to keep in line with protocol.
