Zack Snyder's "Rebel Moon - Part One: Child of Fire" is a bloated space opera that borrows heavily from "Star Wars," "Dune," and "Lord of the Rings." The film features attempted sexual assaults and an uncomfortable encounter with an alien, but its biggest violation is its lack of originality. The story follows Kora, a mysterious outsider seeking revenge on a fascistic empire, as she gathers a group of rebels. While the film showcases impressive visuals, it struggles to create a cohesive and engaging narrative, with thin characters and chaotic action. Despite a game performance from Sofia Boutella, "Rebel Moon" feels indifferent and weighed down by hackneyed exposition.
