Ireland is offering $92,000 in funding to those who want to refurbish "derelict properties" into their permanent home or a rental home to meet demand for housing on 30 rural islands off the western coast as part of a three-year action plan called Our Living Islands. The measure aims to revitalize population levels on the islands, which have been slowly declining over the years, and seeks to preserve and empower Ireland's 80 island communities for generations to come through measures such as better access to health clinics, tourism marketing, and improved infrastructure.
