Tragic Loss: L.A. County Sheriff's Recruit Succumbs to Injuries from Wrong-Way Collision
Alejandro Martinez, an L.A. County sheriff's deputy recruit, has died after spending eight months in the hospital following a training accident where he was struck by a wrong-way driver. Martinez, who had dedicated his life to public service, was part of a training run when an SUV veered into the wrong lane and crashed into the formation. He suffered severe injuries and was placed on a ventilator. Despite efforts to save him, Martinez passed away surrounded by his family and colleagues.
