Teen Charged in Deadly Carjacking Crash Amidst Pending Theft Cases
A 15-year-old girl, who had been previously arrested for robbery and theft charges, was released by a judge due to the lack of available housing in the city's Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services. However, she was later involved in a carjacking and crash that resulted in the death of another girl. The teenager has now been charged with armed carjacking, unlawful entry of a stolen vehicle, and conspiracy. The judge expressed concern over the agency's inability to provide housing for the girl and ordered a hearing to determine why the court should not hold the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services in contempt.
