Amazon broadens ultra-fast delivery with 1-hour and 3-hour options

Amazon announced new 1-hour and 3-hour delivery options across hundreds of U.S. cities and more than 2,000 towns, allowing Prime members to receive over 90,000 products in as fast as one or three hours. 1-hour deliveries cost $9.99 for Prime and $19.99 otherwise; 3-hour deliveries cost $4.99 for Prime and $14.99 otherwise. The service leverages Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery network and AI-driven inventory, with new storefronts and filters to help customers browse items eligible for fast delivery, and the company plans to expand to more areas in coming months.

"Retailers Boost Delivery Speeds to Accommodate Late Holiday Shoppers"

Retail giants Walmart, Target, and Amazon are ramping up their efforts to improve delivery speeds in order to compete with low-cost Chinese retailers and meet the growing demand for faster shipping. Amazon has implemented a new distribution model that divides the country into eight regions, resulting in faster deliveries and reduced costs. Walmart and Target are investing in warehouse upgrades and automation to speed up delivery to stores and customers. Walmart is also adding parcel stations to stores and plans to double the number of customer orders fulfilled daily. Target is augmenting its warehouses and expects to deliver 9 million packages from sortation centers during the holiday season. However, experts believe that even with these efforts, it will be challenging for Walmart and Target to catch up with Amazon's extensive warehouse space and delivery infrastructure.
