"UPS Workers' Strike Threatens Deliveries and Business Operations"
The contract between UPS and its workers union, Teamsters, expires on July 31, and with no deal reached in the latest negotiation session, nearly 350,000 UPS workers could potentially go on strike. The last strike in 1997 lasted 15 days and cost $850 million, but the impact this time could be even greater due to the surge in e-commerce packages. While other carriers won't be able to absorb all the volume, the current low shipping season and reduced consumer spending may mitigate some of the disruptions. However, the strike would still have a significant impact on deliveries and production of certain goods.
