Mike Clevinger Declines Option, White Sox Make Moves
Pitcher Mike Clevinger has declined his half of a $12 million mutual option with the Chicago White Sox, receiving a $4 million buyout and becoming a free agent. Clevinger spent one season with the team, posting a 3.77 ERA across 131 1/3 innings. Turning 33 in December, he is expected to land a multi-year contract this offseason. The White Sox will need to add multiple starting pitchers, with Dylan Cease being the only certain occupant of the Opening Day rotation.
