"Flash flooding claims lives of pets at Northeast DC doggie day care"
Multiple pets drowned as a doggie day care in Northeast D.C. flooded during severe storms. Firefighters rescued 20 animals and broke through drywall to let water out of the building. The facility had previously been damaged by floodwaters in August 2022, and the owner had requested help from the city. A tunnel to mitigate flooding in the area is expected to open in two months.
