James Gunn Confirms Batman Spin-Off Arkham Series Is Part of the DCU
James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has confirmed that the upcoming untitled Arkham series, originally thought to be a prequel spin-off to The Batman in the DC Elseworlds, will actually take place in the main DCU timeline. Gunn stated that the series will be produced by Matt Reeves, who is also working on The Batman universe, and that it was one of the first pitches they received when they took on their roles. This news follows Gunn's previous comments on why Robert Pattinson's Batman exists outside of the DCU, stating that it was Reeves' choice.
