Debian 12.3 Upgrade Delayed: Addressing EXT4 Data Corruption Bug
Originally Published 2 years ago — by Phoronix
Debian 12.3 release has been delayed due to a data corruption bug caused by a problematic patch in the EXT4 file system. The bug, resulting from an interaction between Iomap and EXT4, affects older kernels, including recent Linux 6.1 LTS point releases. Although the bug is described as non-serious and recoverable, Debian users are advised not to upgrade until the Linux 6.1.66-based kernel image is available. This issue follows a separate data corruption bug in the OpenZFS file system.
