Arrest Made in Shooting of Auburn RB Brian Battie, Brother Killed
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested Darryl Bernard Brookins for a weekend shooting that left former USF football player Brian Battie critically injured and his brother Tommie Battie dead. Brookins, who has four prior felony convictions, faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm by a felon. The incident occurred in the Tallywood Centre Plaza parking lot, and video footage along with Crimestoppers tips led to Brookins' identification and arrest.
