Portland honors late drag queen Darcelle XV with street renaming and tribute shows.

A supporter of Portland's legendary drag queen, Darcelle XV, installed a homemade street sign outside of Darcelle's club that reads NW Darcelle XV St. The sign is at the corner of NW Davis St. and 3rd Ave. The sign remained in place for 24 hours, although it would need to come down, according to a spokesperson for the Portland Bureau of Transportation. The city has authorized temporary rechristening of streets in the past, but permanent renaming requires someone's death to be at least five years old before that person could be considered as a street namesake.
