"8th Horse Fatality at Churchill Downs Due to Injury"
Rio Moon, a 3-year-old colt trained by Dale Romans, became the eighth horse to die at Churchill Downs in 10 days after breaking its leg at the finish line of the sixth race on Sunday. Seven horses have died during the Spring Meet at Churchill Downs, with two of them occurring on Derby Day and two others under the same trainer, prompting a suspension from the track. Churchill Downs has released a statement saying they will continue to investigate the deaths and the causes of the injuries leading to them.
