Bonfire Social is an open-source, modular social networking software built on ActivityPub that allows communities to create highly customizable and autonomous social spaces, free from corporate control, with features like custom feeds, nested discussions, multiple profiles, and privacy controls, aiming to empower users and communities.
Meta has quickly rolled out custom feeds for its Threads platform, allowing users to track specific topics and accounts in a single feed. This feature, which can be customized by adding topics or accounts, comes amid growing competition from Bluesky, a rapidly growing platform that also offers custom feeds. Despite Bluesky's recent surge to 20 million users, Threads remains larger, with over 15 million signups in November alone.
