Paddleboarder discovers missing swimmer's body off Jacksonville Beach
The body of Curtis Newkirk Jr., a 19-year-old swimmer who went missing in the ocean south of the Jacksonville Beach pier on Sunday evening, was found by a paddleboarder on Wednesday morning about 10 blocks north of the pier. Newkirk was swimming with a group when some of them became distressed, and everyone else made it to the shore except for him. The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the body was Newkirk's, and police announced the identification on Friday morning.
