Teen Unaware of Pregnancy Learns of Impending Birth Hours Before Labor
An 18-year-old woman in the US, Laren Dawn Nelson, was shocked to discover she was in labour with a cryptic pregnancy after going to the hospital for stomach pain. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Silas just hours after learning of her pregnancy. Cryptic pregnancies are rare, with one in 475 not detected until 20 weeks, and one in 2,500 unrecognized until labour. Nelson has since embraced motherhood with her family and friends' support.
