Atiq Ahmed: From Mafia Don to Mob Justice Victim
Atiq Ahmad, a notorious criminal-politician in Uttar Pradesh, rose to power through a life of crime and intimidation. He was accused of murder at 17 and went on to run a network of gangsters in the state. Despite multiple arrests and electoral defeats, his clout in the underworld remained strong. Ahmad's sons followed in his footsteps and are currently in jail on charges of extortion, kidnapping, and assault. Ahmad himself was shot dead in a hospital premises by three youths, just days after his son was killed in an encounter.
