eBay Inc. Fined $3 Million for Cyberstalking Campaign Targeting Couple
eBay Inc. has agreed to pay a $3 million criminal penalty for a 2019 harassment and intimidation campaign targeting a Massachusetts couple in retaliation for their online coverage of eBay, and for obstructing the investigation that followed. The company admitted to the conduct and will be required to retain an independent corporate compliance monitor for three years and make extensive enhancements to its compliance program. Seven former eBay employees or contractors have been convicted, with the ringleader sentenced to 57 months in federal prison.
