Idaho Teen Arrested for ISIS-Inspired Church Attack Plot
An 18-year-old from Idaho, Alexander Scott Mercurio, was arrested and accused of planning to kill churchgoers in the name of ISIS. He allegedly intended to carry out the attacks using weapons and had pledged allegiance to ISIS. The FBI found evidence of his support for ISIS, including an ISIS flag and discussions about supporting the group financially. Mercurio faces up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted. Authorities were alerted to his plans through an investigation into a fundraising network supporting ISIS.
