"Former Officials of Holyoke Soldiers' Home Avoid Jail Time in Covid Neglect Case"
Two former officials at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home in Massachusetts, where 76 people died during a Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, will not serve jail time after being indicted on neglect charges. The charges stemmed from a decision to consolidate two dementia units, leading to the spread of the virus and numerous deaths. The state attorney general's office had requested one year of home confinement and three years of probation for the officials, but they asked for a continuance without a finding, admitting there was enough evidence to find them guilty.
