Israeli Settler Accused of Killing Palestinian in West Bank to Stay in Custody Following Court Reversal
The Jerusalem District Court has reversed a previous decision and ruled to release one of the two Israeli settlers suspected of killing a Palestinian in the West Bank village of Burqa. The second suspect will remain in custody due to injuries sustained during the incident. The police requested an extension of the detention for both suspects, citing new information from a pathology report. The suspects are accused of causing death either on purpose or by negligence, obstruction of justice, and nationalistically-motivated arson. The release of one suspect has been criticized by Hamas, who claim it supports Israeli terrorism. Four Palestinians suspected of attacking the settlers during the incident are also in custody.
