A fashion TikToker initially questioned the authenticity of the shoes, pointing out details that made them appear fake. T.J. Maxx claimed they didn't sell the shoes and suggested they were a "counterfeit return." Frankel expressed her disappointment and loyalty to the store but advised against buying luxury goods from T.J. Maxx. She has since ordered a new pair from Bergdorf Goodman.
