Beer industry faces backlash over 'woke' marketing strategies.
PublicSq., a marketplace for "values-aligned businesses" that promotes pro-life, pro-family, and pro-freedom values, saw a surge in membership after Miller Lite released a feminist ad criticizing the beer industry's past use of women in bikinis to sell beer. PublicSq. founder and CEO Michael Seifert called on more companies to offer high-quality products without preaching progressive politics. Seifert argued that there is a broader societal backlash against corporations imposing left-wing politics and left-wing causes, fueled in part by environmental, social, and governance investing (ESG). Critics of what they describe as "corporate wokeness" have been mobilizing against the march of ESG advocates, arguing the financial movement is a way to push left-wing causes through business rather than the legislature.
