
Barricaded suspect kills self after shooting NC officer and K-9 in Oxford.
A barricaded suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting an officer and a K-9 during a standoff with Oxford Police in North Carolina. The officer, identified as Corporal Daniel Allen, was shot in the leg and is in stable condition. The K-9, named Halligan, was also shot multiple times and is being treated. Neighbors say the suspect, identified as Jason Newton, had no history of violent behavior and lived alone. The incident started when Newton began acting erratically and ended after several hours of gunfire.
