"The Last of Us" Showrunner Highlights Real-Life Threat of Cordyceps Fungus
Craig Mazin, the showrunner of HBO's "The Last of Us," warns that the Cordyceps fungus, which has evolved and infected humans in the post-apocalyptic series, is real and could evolve due to climate change. While he personally does not believe the fungus could infect humans, he acknowledges that hallucinatory drugs like LSD have roots in fungi. Mazin also hints at the possibility of more Infected zombies in future seasons of the show.
