Orange County Animal Shelter Implements New Measures to Combat Canine Pneumovirus Outbreak
Orange County Animal Services in Florida is modifying operations in response to a confirmed case of canine pneumovirus in a shelter dog. The shelter will temporarily suspend intake of stray and relinquished pets to isolate the exposed population and prevent further spread of the virus. They encourage finders of healthy stray pets to use their Lost & Found Pet Forum and other means to reunite them with their owners. Adoption services will continue, with waived fees for dogs designated "ready to go." The shelter urges pet owners to be aware of symptoms and consult a veterinarian if their dog appears sick.
