Walgreens to Cut Hundreds of Corporate Jobs in Patient Care Shift
Walgreens Boots Alliance is cutting 504 corporate jobs, which account for 10% of its corporate workforce, as part of its efforts to streamline operations and become a consumer-centric healthcare company. The layoffs will not affect store, microfulfillment center, or call center employees. The pharmacy chain owner has recently made moves in the healthcare sector, including contributing $3.5 billion toward VillageMD's purchase of Summit Health-CityMD and finishing its purchase of Shield Health Solutions. Walgreens Boots Alliance reported $34.86 billion in sales and $700 million in net earnings for the second quarter.
