Xavier Pelkey, a 20-year-old man from Maine, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for conspiring to provide material support to terrorists. Pelkey, along with two minors, planned a mass shooting at a Shia mosque in Chicago. They were supporters of ISIS and intended to use firearms, ammunition, and explosives in the attack. The FBI discovered explosive devices and ISIS-related materials during a search of Pelkey's residence.

Life sentence for ex-US informant linked to Haitian president's killing.

Rodolphe Jarr, a former US informant, has been sentenced to life in prison for his involvement in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse in 2021. Jarr pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to provide material support, providing material support, and conspiring to kidnap and kill Moïse. He is the first to be sentenced from the plot to kill Moïse, with ten other defendants charged in the US and dozens arrested in Haiti. Prosecutors believe most of the planning for the assassination happened in South Florida, and court documents state that Jarr provided weapons, food, and lodging for Colombian soldiers and others involved in the plot.
