"Far-right Activists Settle for $1.25 Million in Voter Suppression Robocall Case"
Far-right conspiracy theorists Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman have been ordered to pay up to $1.25m in fines for orchestrating a robocall campaign aimed at discouraging Black voters in New York from participating in the 2020 election. The campaign involved false claims about mail-in voting and personal information being used for tracking warrants and mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations. The settlement requires the payment to the New York attorney general’s office, the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, and affected individuals. This is the latest punishment for Wohl and Burkman, who have faced similar charges in other states.
