Exploring Consciousness in Crustaceans: Are Crabs Capable?
The field of consciousness studies has primarily focused on studying consciousness in "higher mammals" like humans and monkeys, leading to a neurocentric and anthropocentric approach. However, this narrow focus has hindered progress in understanding consciousness. By expanding research to include other species and aspects of consciousness, such as invertebrates and different sensory modalities, scientists may gain new insights and puzzle pieces to solve the hard problem of consciousness. Challenging assumptions and embracing a more inclusive approach could lead to a better understanding of consciousness.
