Curatorial Shake-Up: MoMA PS1 Taps Hammer Museum's Connie Butler as New Director.
Connie Butler, chief curator at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, has been named the new director of MoMA PS1 in Queens, New York. Butler, who previously served as chief curator of drawings at MoMA from 2006 to 2013, has extensive experience with MoMA PS1, having served as part of the curatorial team for its “Greater New York” exhibition in 2010 and co-organized major traveling shows. She will assume her new position on September 26, succeeding Kate Fowle, who resigned last summer after a brief three-year tenure.
