"South Carolina River Yields Hidden Trove of Civil War Artifacts"
During the cleanup of the Congaree River in South Carolina, hundreds of Civil War relics, including cannonballs, bullets, swords, and an unexploded munition, were discovered. These artifacts provide tangible evidence of Union Gen. William T. Sherman's campaign in the South. The relics will be housed at the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum after undergoing conservation processes. The cleanup project, which also removed toxic tar, was celebrated for its early completion.
