Yemen sees multiple prisoner releases in move towards peace.
More than 100 prisoners of war were released in Yemen as part of a "unilateral" release facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross. The release comes after a three-day prisoner exchange between the internationally recognized government and the Houthis, which saw a total of 869 prisoners exchanged. The Yemeni civil war has been ongoing for more than eight years, resulting in a humanitarian crisis that the UN has described as among the worst in the world. The prisoner exchange is seen as a positive step towards peace negotiations, with both sides expressing a desire to release all remaining prisoners in future negotiations.
