Washington State and Oregon State Secure Pac-12 Control as Supreme Court Denies Review Request

The Washington Supreme Court has denied a review request by the 10 departing Pac-12 members, reaffirming Oregon State and Washington State's control over the conference and its assets. The court ruling prevents the remaining 10 schools from voting to sell off any assets before the conference reduces to two members. While Oregon State and Washington State have controlling interest, they must act in the fiduciary interest of the entire group and cannot withhold money owed to the departing members. The two schools plan to enter into a scheduling agreement with the Mountain West for the 2024 season, with the option to add members or merge with another conference in the future.
