Mother arrested years later for abandoning newborn in plastic bag.
Karima Jiwani, a 40-year-old woman with a history of concealed pregnancies, has been arrested and charged with attempt to commit murder, cruelty to children in the first degree, reckless abandonment, and other charges, almost four years after a newborn was found abandoned in the woods in Forsyth County. The baby, known as "Baby India," was discovered by neighbors in June 2019 and has since been adopted. The sheriff thanked the community for their support and said that Baby India is now "prosperous, happy, and healthy." Jiwani will make her first appearance at the Forsyth County jail on Saturday morning.
