X, under the leadership of Elon Musk, has introduced audio and video call services, although it is currently only available to select customers. These new communication tools are part of Musk's vision to transform X into an "everything app" similar to China's WeChat. Despite the addition of various features, including longer videos and a revamped paid verification system, X has struggled to regain lost users since Musk's acquisition of the company.
Microsoft's annual Work Trend Index report for 2023 has revealed that workers are spending 57% of their time "communicating" and just 43% actually "creating" anything. The report also found that the heaviest email users spend 8.8 hours a week on email, and the heaviest meeting users spend 7.5 hours a week in meetings. Microsoft believes AI is the answer to increase employee productivity, help with mundane tasks, and improve employee wellbeing. However, the report also suggests that Microsoft's communication tools are partly to blame for the lack of productivity in the workplace.
