The Trump administration has proposed new rules to streamline the approval process for commercial drone use in U.S. airspace, aiming to foster innovation while ensuring safety, including standards for drone construction and collision avoidance, with a 60-day public comment period.
A2Z Drone Delivery, a California-based company, has developed a new delivery drone called the RDSX Pelican that uses a multi-rotor system to balance itself, making it the first commercial drone of its kind. It also has a pre-installed winch that allows for cargo to be released from a tethered position at altitude without requiring a landing. The Pelican can be used for medical and emergency deliveries, shore-to-ship deliveries, aerial mapping, infrastructure inspection, and search and rescue efforts. The Pelican models start at $29,000 and are available for pre-order now.
