Tragic accidents claim lives of tigers at Colorado zoo
A 2-year-old Amur tiger named Mila died in a tragic accident at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado. After being given anesthesia for a dental procedure, Mila slipped off a bench and suffered a fatal spinal injury. The zoo's staff tried to save her for 40 minutes but were unsuccessful. Mila, who had been sent to the zoo from the Toronto Zoo, had not yet been introduced to the public. The zoo emphasized the careful decision-making process behind administering anesthesia and expressed deep sadness over the loss. Amur tigers are critically endangered in the wild, with just 500 remaining, and the zoo highlighted the ongoing struggle to protect these animals.
