MLB Draft: College Pitching Prioritized, Tigers' Picks Analyzed, and Rockies Select Kaminska
Pittsburgh Pirates General Manager Ben Cherington continues to prioritize college pitching in the 2023 MLB Draft, selecting five college players, including three pitchers, in rounds 11 through 16. The Pirates selected left-handed pitcher Magdiel Cotto from Kentucky, right-handed pitcher Khristian Curtis from Arizona State, first baseman/outfielder Charles McAdoo from San Jose State, right-handed pitcher Garrett McMillan from Alabama, and catcher John Lopez from Puerto Rico. In round 16, they also picked college catcher Justin Mikins from Kent State, who has experience in the Cape Cod League.
