Tennessee State Breaks Barriers with HBCU Ice Hockey Program
Tennessee State University has announced that it will be adding a club men's hockey team, becoming the first Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to introduce a college hockey program. The team will start as a club program in 2024, with the goal of eventually fielding both a Division I men's and women's team. The decision was influenced by a partnership with the Nashville Predators and a feasibility study conducted by College Hockey Inc. The move aims to provide new opportunities and broaden interests for TSU students, while also promoting diversity and inclusivity in the sport.
