"Air Force Introduces Cold-Weather Bonuses for Troops at Northern Bases"
The U.S. Air Force is offering a one-time, lump-sum bonus ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 to airmen and guardians who agree to yearlong tours at seven cold-weather bases in the United States, effective April 1 through Dec. 31, 2026. The incentive pay is intended to help ease the financial burden of buying cold-weather essentials and to entice personnel to serve in these challenging locations. Eligible bases include those in North Dakota, Alaska, and Montana, with payments varying based on location and whether the individual has dependents. The Air Force is also considering cold-weather incentives for foreign assignments.
