"Former Oregon Prison Nurse Receives 30-Year Sentence for Sexual Assault on Inmates"
Former Oregon correctional nurse Tony Klein has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting multiple women at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, the state's only prison for women. This case is the largest of its kind prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice in terms of the number of victims and charges. Klein was convicted of sexually abusing nine women and lying about the incidents under oath. During the trial, 17 women testified that Klein touched them inappropriately, with some stating that he forced sex upon them. The judge acknowledged the significant harm caused by Klein's actions and recommended a sentence of 41 years, while Klein's defense attorneys argued for 25 years.
