Devastating Fire Engulfs Dhaka Clothing Market in Bangladesh.
A fire broke out in a popular clothing market in Dhaka, Bangladesh, gutting the Bongo Bazar and three adjacent markets. No deaths have been reported, but at least 11 people were injured. The fire was brought under control after six hours of battling by 600 firefighters. The markets had been designated a fire risk in 2019 and had received warning letters since then. Shop owners were left destitute before Eid, the Muslim festival marking the end of Ramadan. Building fires and explosions are frequent in Bangladesh.
