New York Jets to Release Veteran TE C.J. Uzomah

The New York Jets are expected to release veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah, who was due to count $11.2 million on the team's cap. The move will save the Jets $5.3 million this year but incur a $5.9 million cap hit. Uzomah, who signed a three-year, $24 million contract in 2022, never gained a consistent role in the passing attack and suffered a serious knee injury last season. The Jets won't be pressed to replace him as they have two veterans on the depth chart, and his release clears more than $13 million in cap space for the team.

The 31-year-old spent his first seven years with the Cincinnati Bengals and had a standout season in 2021, contributing to the team's run to Super Bowl LVI.

Unscripted Tony Awards and Star-Studded After-Parties: Highlights and Surprises.

NFL star Aaron Rodgers attended the Tony Awards to support his teammate CJ Uzomah, who is a producer on the Broadway show "Ain't No Mo'." Rodgers was seen mingling at the afterparty and taking pictures with theater folks until past 3:30 a.m. The party drew newly minted Tony winners and bold-faced theater names, and was the go-to bash of the night. Michael Arden, who won for Best Direction of a Musical, had part of his speech bleeped out when he proclaimed, "I'm a f****t with a Tony." Non-binary performers also took home awards.
