Amber Riley, known for her role as Mercedes in "Glee," revealed on a podcast that she refused to film a sex scene with Chord Overstreet's character Sam, citing her character's devout Christian beliefs and the message it would send to young girls. She rejected the idea of a "full-blown" sex scene and ultimately the storyline was adjusted to have the characters hold hands and walk to a room, which she also declined. Riley felt that the sex storyline did not align with her character's values and ultimately, Mercedes and Sam decided to remain friends in the show.
